DISCUSSION POST: On the Border

sithwitchHere is where we discuss anything and everything found in the second section of Stephen King's The Stand. Please do not spoil anything past this section, for those who haven't read the book before. Discussion as relating to the previous section is okay.
Sucking at updating, and a question!

Unfortunately, I misplaced my copy of the book, spent a while slacking off and knitting, and then scrambled yesterday and today. I'll be putting up the discussion sections for the three sections of the book as soon as I'm done with this.
But first, how much reread per week is good? I read really fast and have no idea how much is a reasonable speed. However, I also didn't remember that the chapters (at least in the beginning, I haven't looked later) are short. Like, I read fifty pages today and was done with chapter 5 short.
So, approximate page count? One chapter? Five chapters, ten chapters, what?
Sound off, and sorry, I know I should have had this figured out before now!

...and I have not got around to making discussion posts yet for the first chapter or section of the book because I fail at life. But seriously, it's started. Trust me.

sithwitchOkay! Welcome to We Read Stuff, where we read stuff and then talk about it. It's all very self-explanatory.
Our first joint book read is going to be Stephen King's The Stand, specifically the "complete and uncut" edition. We'll start around May 15, to give everyone enough time to procure or fish their copy out of wherever it's landed in your dwelling as well as bring more interested people in as well as figure out how we want to read and discuss, since everyone reads at different paces. Thus the advantage of a comment system that goes to your email and lets you track replies and the like.
So far there aren't many rules here, but if anyone screws up they will be added and they will be frowned at. For now, we'll stick to a) don't spoil people who don't want to be spoiled and b) the Wil Wheaton "Don't be a dick" principle.
